Lucille Lang Day is the author of a children's book, Chain Letter, and seven poetry collections and chapbooks: God of the Jellyfish, The Book of Answers, Infinities, Lucille Lang Day’s Greatest Hits 1975-2000, Wild One, Fire in the Garden, and Self-Portrait with Hand Microscope, which received the Joseph Henry Jackson Award in Literature. Her poetry and prose have appeared widely in magazines and anthologies, including Calyx, The Hudson Review, River Oak Review, River Styx, Tar River Poetry, The Threepenny Review, September 11, 2001: American Writers Respond (Etruscan), and California Poetry: From the Gold Rush to the Present (Heyday). She received her M.A. in English and M.F.A. in creative writing at San Francisco State University, and her M.A. in zoology and Ph.D. in science and mathematics education at the University of California at Berkeley. Writers’ Sanctuary Presents Authors Summer Brenner & Ron Egatz Summer Brenner has published ten books of poetry, fiction, and novels for children. Her works include the critically acclaimed noir thriller from PM Press, I-5: A Novel of Crime, Transport, and Sex, which was chosen by Los Angeles Mystery Bookstore as a Top Ten Book of 2009). Gallimard's prestigious serie noire published another of Brenner's crime novels, which PM Press will release in 2011 by its English title, Nearly Nowhere. Brenner also writes fiction for youth. Her novel, Richmond Tales, Lost Secrets of the Iron Triangle, was selected for a 2010 Richmond Historic Preservation award and was the subject of a Special Proclamation by the Mayor of Richmond. Ron Egatz is winner of the Glimmer Train Poetry Award and the Greenburgh Poetry Award. Beneath Stars Long Extinct, a collection of poems, was published by Red Hen Press in 2010. A poet widely published in literary reviews and anthologies, Egatz also runs Camber Press, Inc., an independent literary press, and consults for other publishers. He teaches privately and lives in a loft on the Hudson River while missing Paris.

The larger-than-life, bronze sculptures are the vision of Vinnie Bagwell, a Yonkers artist long active in bringing public sculpture to the city’s downtown. Her sculpture of Ella Fitzgerald, who was raised in Yonkers, stands outside the Yonkers train station. Police are investigating what led a New York mother of four to drive herself and her children into the cold and murky Hudson River, killing herself and three of her kids.
